After many days of coding, the new version is now out, and it’s a big step forward.
- Play Online! Finally!!! This is how it was supposed to be played all along. Offline mode is still supported for iPad.
- Support for iPhone. I didn’t expect the game to be playable on such a small screen, but with zooming and scrolling it actually kind of is. The experience is still better on iPad though.
- Maps. The three maps with different terrain and army selection will hopefully add more tactical variation.
- Gameplay. Better simulation of the reach of different types of melee weapons: katana, yari, and naginata. Spears have better reach and keep your enemy at a distance. But you’ll get more vulnerable to flanking. I was surprised of impact of adding this simple aspect to the simulation logic.
